The project proposes to take advantage of the exceptional view of the Salève mountain that the Route du Pont Butin offers thanks to its considerable width. Extensions are added to the existing building to provide it with surfaces offering frontal views to the south and the surrounding landscape. These extensions make it possible to organize apartments benefiting from three orientations and an unobstructed view of the Salève.
The projections created are an interesting feature not only in terms of the typology and quality of the housing, but also in terms of the characterization of the transformed building and its new presence at the crossroads. With a clear focus on circularity but also continuity with the existing structure, the transformed and enlarged building will, in its new form, be clad with glass panels from the existing façade, which offer unalterable durability thanks to their materiality.
Although the new architecture will radically transform the existing structure, it will maintain a link of continuity with the pre-existing building, whose glass and reflective materiality will remain on the site as a testament to its administrative past.
